cambridge university press x brown university
For this project, I was asked by the founders of a new department at the Alpen Medical School at Brown University, Women’s Health in Emergency Care, to help promote their new program and create an illustration for the cover of their book on the topic. Almost every standard of practice and diagnostics in medicine was developed by men, for men. This program and book breaks down the differences in anatomy, physiology and psychology between men and women so that women can get proper care.
PROMOTIONAL POSTER
I went through several iterations while designing promotional content for this new program at the Alpen Medical School. I wanted to incorporate a Vitruvian woman, a female gender logo, a caduceus and a DNA strand. This image was used on posters and t-shirts. I used this as direction for the book cover that followed.
BOOK COVER
Sex and Gender in Acute Care Medicine is the first textbook used in this new program within Brown’s Alpen Medical School. The original direction was to make it look like a missing page from da Vinci’s notebook but after some testing, found a more conservative approach would be appropriate, given that it was for a medical textbook.
